Career Opportunity for Inspector in our Construction Department

Neglia Group is looking for talented, energetic and self-motivated employees with good communication skills for an Inspector position in our Lyndhurst and Mountainside offices in New Jersey. The successful candidate will inspect contractor operations on a variety of projects in order to maintain compliance with contract specifications and design plans.

Candidate will need to communicate with the prime contractor, municipal representatives, traffic control personnel, utility companies and representatives from various agencies. Ideal candidate must have leadership experience and excellent communication skills, including the ability to handle conflict with diplomacy and tact.

Construction Management Inspector

Experience and Requirements

    1. Over 3 years of experience in construction of roadways, utilities, public work, and site improvements.
    2. NICET Certification preferred or pursuance of such will be required utilizing our “Tuition Assistance Program”, including ACI and SAT Certification.
    3. Current Active Driver’s License and vehicle.
    4. Candidate should possess good communication, verbal, and technical writing skills.
    5. Responsible for field construction observations/tracking of construction sequencing, cost, scheduling, and contractor performance.
  1. Experience in reviewing, reading and interpreting Site/Grading/Drainage/Utility/Erosion Control plans, construction details, Technical Specifications, and Technical Design Reports.
  2. Verify materials and equipment against approved shop drawings.
  3. Monitor the quality of work and identify potential safety concerns, identify any deviations from plans or specifications.
  4. Act as a liaison between the Contractor and Regional/Chief Inspector.
  5. Assist the project engineer with project administration.
  6. Working knowledge of mathematics with the ability to determine field measurements and adjustments.
  7. Ability to maintain detailed journal entries and produce daily reports with photographs utilizing in-house proprietary software for pay quantity records and Construction Management daily reports.
  8. Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
  9. Ability to work overtime including nights and weekends (when required).
  10. Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
